Based on the Laurus, the Ulmus has a larger stainless rim to give you a power-up!
The size and shape of the Ulmus is based on its older brother, the Laurus, but the stainless steel rim has increased in size to give you added power and stability. The design concept is to strike a balance between heavy and light, and the result is a delightful playfeel that delicately balances the two.
To ensure the best performance out of the box, Hydrangea ships the Ulmus with hkmt equipment's Toru String and Grip-N response pads. The string, named for Toru Miyazaki, has a beautiful balance of bounce and smoothness, and the Grip-N pads ensure a tight, solid return.
*Please note that there's a slight weight difference between the colorways. The specs below are for the anodized "Midnight" colorway, and the RAW version is 67.7 grams.
Official Description Ulmus inherits the bezel-less rim structure from Laurus but with an increased rim weight and improved spin time. We aimed for a lighter feeling from the actual weight.
Ulmus performs with unbelievable spin power whilst feeling smooth during play.
A problem arose that the bezel-less rim could not be coloured by standard anodizing processes. Ulmus challenged this issue by adopting a different method from anodizing. To tackle this, we adopted a surface treatment that has been used for gun machinary for the US Army, Sea and Air Force. The characteristic of this surface treatment is that surfaces are extremely thin, corrosion resistant, chemical resistant and durable. The surface is flexible to some extent, and proved extremely durable against dents and shocks. Scratches from the counterweight were hardly noticed during team testing.
We proudly present Ulmus, as our second model. Hydrangea presents this new technology to the industry.
