The 3A model of the 2A instructor is now available. Yuki Takami's signature bimetal model.
This is a collaboration model between SUS YOYO MECHANICS and REWIND, and the first 3A yoyo from SUS YOYO MECHANICS. The "Trial" is a signature model for Yuki Takami, a Rewind 2A instructor, and shares some design concepts with Shotaro Matsuda's signature "Act" model.
Takami is often talked about for his outstanding tricks not only in 2A, but also in his multiple styles. His blossoming in 3A tri-attack tricks led to the creation of a signature model for string tricks mainly targeting 3A.
The diameter of Act is 1mm larger, while the width of Trial is 0.6mm wider than Act, showing the consideration and precision that went into the size design of each. However, the biggest difference is the way the rims are joined. The Act has an outer rim and the Trial has an inner rim, so although both models weigh almost the same in the 66g range, the weight balance itself is completely different.
Both are top-of-the-line models suitable for everyone from beginners to experts in 3A, and their silhouettes are very similar, so they are sure to be useful no matter which one you start your 3A career with. Knowing the production concept of each, you can approach 3A with a deeper knowledge of the character of your yo-yo options. Please take a look at the design comments as well as the comments from them.
The production started when Yuki Takami, a Rewind 2A instructor, asked us for "a yo-yo of my choice that can be used in 3A. We felt that the concept and direction of the yo-yo had potential, so we decided to create two separate models.
Although the diameter, width, weight, rim joining method, and appearance may look like different models, the basic shape is exactly the same. In particular, the shape from the edge to the control edge is identical. The weight distribution in the width direction is also almost the same, and they are truly siblings with a common "backbone" that is quite close in value except for power.
Both models are high-power bimetallic models, but Matsuda's Act has characteristics that seek stability with more power while reducing the weight at the start of the throw. Takami's Trial is sized for 3A, but is balanced so that players in other divisions will not feel uncomfortable even if they try 3A.
The Act focuses on power from its diameter and outer rim, while the Trial stands out for its weight and balance from its inner rim. Although they have the same basic structure, they are siblings born from completely different approaches. Please compare them.
What was important for "Trial" was the sense of presence.
We sought a weight that is just right, yet still easy to move without ever losing track of its position in space. Even in 3A, where the strings are intricately intertwined, the yo-yo's position and condition are easy to grasp not only visually but also by feel, resulting in a high level of operability.
Regarding the size, the Trial is designed with a slim width of less than 43mm, but with the size and feel of other string-trick styles such as 1A and 5A in mind.
The slightly rounded rim is also a special feature. We carefully discussed the diameter and shape of the rim to ensure that it fits easily in the hand, and the result is an exquisitely balanced design.
We hope you will try various styles of tricks with this yo-yo, especially 3A.
