ll yo-yos have passed the manufacturer's inspection. Different manufacturers have different standards for product quality. Basically, products that can be used normally are within the product specifications.

Examples of possible initial defects : If you notice any of the following symptoms immediately after opening the product, it may be due to an initial defect.

  • (Bind model only) The bearing barely turns even when flicked with a finger.
  • Even after calming the vibrations with a rotating middle finger, the yo-yo still vibrates so much that it appears to change shape.
  • Parts that should have been installed (bearings/pads) are not installed

Examples of items that are not considered initial defects

  • Damage to the package
  • Color image difference
  • Bearing noises after playing a few times
  • A yo-yo that was delivered in a properly assembled state, but after being disassembled, could no longer be assembled
  • Scratches and paint chips inside the bearing area
  • The color unevenness of the yo-yo is not noticeable from a distance.
  • Paint chipping that is not visible from a distance
  • Scratches on the yo-yo that are not visible from a distance and are barely noticeable when touched with your fingers

Description

C3yoyodesign - Super Scintillator
An extra-wide, multi-material yo-yo that's out of the ordinary

Both the diameter and width are 58mm. This is the widest C3 yo-yo design model to date, excluding the off-string, and is an extra-wide, non-standard, multi-material yo-yo. As the name suggests, the base yo-yo is the "Scintillator," but while the diameter was 56mm and the width was 49mm, the size has been changed dramatically to 58mm.

The materials used are the same three types as the Tri-on Crash, which is also a multi-material yo-yo. However, although the A6061 aluminum alloy body is the same, the stainless steel rim is now midship, closer to the outer side than the inner side, and the outermost circumference is now made of lightweight and durable polycarbonate. This not only compensates for the weakness of the wide width, giving it more than enough power and sleep extension, but also has the advantage of being soft to the touch despite its large size.

With such a wide range, it seems that there may be a disadvantage in some string tricks where the string will ride on the string you don't want it to ride on, but that's okay. "Anything is fine. Just ride it." The more you use it, the more you will definitely feel this message from the maker. It is particularly effective in rails, hops, and horizontal tricks that mainly use them. It will ride even if the speed increases and control becomes a little rough, and it will ride even if it bounces up farther than usual. With such a clear genre of what it is good at, it may even completely change the style and taste of the user.

The finger spin spot inherited from the Scintillator is still there, and it's just as easy to place. Furthermore, thanks to its wide width, it also supports the success rate of difficult binds, such as laceration binds, where you place the string on your finger and gently slacken it. This yo-yo will remind you of the fun of trying all kinds of tricks.

Manufacturer's comment

Incredible visual impact! The widest, largest, most innovative triple material competition yo-yo has arrived.

The "Super Scintilliator" is a super wide H-shape design with a width of 58.2mm and a diameter of 58mm, and weighs only 65g! Based on the "Scintillator" shape, it features a 6061 body, a hollow stainless steel outer ring, and a PC ring, and brings together C3yoyodesign's 15 years of design know-how. This is the second signature yo-yo by C3's media manager, Simpson Wong Wai Sheuk, and the second triple material yo-yo from C3 after the Trion Crash.

Size, weight and shape:

  • The wide 58.2mm x 58mm diameter provides more room for big tricks and incredible string space.

  • While maintaining the H-shape of the "Scintillator", the side angle has been adjusted, and the weight is only about 65g, breaking the stereotype that large diameter and wide are heavy. The lightweight design and hollow stainless steel outer ring allow for faster movement.

  • The H-profile has a slightly matte surface treatment that allows for long grind times.

  • Equipped with finger spin hub. High compatibility with DNA.

Hollow stainless steel outer ring:

  • The nearly 8mm hollow multi-faceted stainless steel outer rim provides high power and extremely long spin times, and is key to keeping the overall weight at 65g.

PC outer ring:

  • The highly visible PC outer ring ensures that every move can be clearly seen by you and spectators, whatever the lighting conditions.

  • In addition to shaping the design, the PC outer ring also serves as a safety feature, protecting the user's hands, head and other body parts from impacts during competition.

  • The inner diameter has a thumb grind area to adjust feel and float and keep you from moving too fast.

Feeling and Performance:

  • The Super Scintillator has a unique feel that is different from other metal yo-yos. This is not just a wide yo-yo.

  • It offers a grip like never before. Despite its unusual design, it feels lighter than it sounds and you'll feel like you're being carried by the stainless steel outer ring during tricks.

  • The extra wide H-shape and weight distribution keeps the strings firmly on the bearings, allowing you to hold horizontal and diagonal tricks for extremely long periods of time.

LOGO DESIGN: The stylish logo was designed by graphic designer Doro and is laser engraved on the front and back for high visibility and finish.

Color: There are two color variations, each with different style and catering to different tastes. Due to the different color of the stainless steel outer ring, there is a clear feeling and weight difference between the two:

Fluorescent yellow PC outer ring / Stainless steel silver outer ring / Sakura pink aluminum body / Well-balanced feeling

Fluorescent yellow PC outer ring / Stainless steel purple outer ring / Black purple green aluminum body / Lean towards the feeling of the outer ring

The Super Scintillator is the most complex triple material design in all of C3's professional yo-yo products. It represents the combined experience of signature owner Simpson and designer Ron, and is a groundbreaking design from C3 that you can't miss!

Comment from Simpson:

When C3's first metal yo-yo, "Capsule," was born in 2009, we also created blueprints for several yo-yos, but due to technical, production and financial constraints at the time, we were unable to create them all at once.

Over time, prototypes emerged: Darkstar (Ron's idea), Winning Bird (Walter's idea), H5 (Simpson's idea), and Master Galaxy (Simpson's idea). These four yo-yos represented the mainstream and non-mainstream designs of the era - great weight distribution, extra large size, extra narrow edge area, and extra wide. The character "Master Galaxy" was the starting point for the Super Scintillator story.

The Master Galaxy was based on the Winning Bird, but its width was significantly expanded from 41.37mm to 52.86mm. Although the diameter did not reach a 1:1 ratio (Winning Bird 52.39mm vs. Master Galaxy 55.58mm), it was still considered a crazy idea at the time. It was very difficult to stabilize and mass produce an ultra-wide yo-yo. The goal was to improve accuracy through ultra-wideness, which led to the entire Master Galaxy series. It includes ReMasterGalaxy (2017), Neo Master Galaxy (2021), Galaxy Diver (2020), and Galaxy Dinosaur (2022). There have also been several other super wide yo-yos, including the Teleport (2014), IX (2019), Pory Crash (2020), Windoundary (2021), Stellar IX (2022), Ghost IX (2024) and the unexpected 4A yo-yo, the Submarine (2021).

Most of the yo-yos listed above have something in common - they have all been used by me in competitions!

In 2023 I combined my long-standing design philosophy with the needs of competition to design a monometal yo-yo that suited my style, but was also easy to use for non-competitive players. This is the "Scintillator", the first signature model of my yo-yo career. The concept of the "Super Scintillator" gradually came to mind after I received the first Scintillator prototype.

When I started using the Scintillator I thought: The Scintillator is so useful! It will drastically improve my success rate in competitions and video shoots and also help me promote Fingerspin DNA on social media - it's a really versatile yo-yo! But as a player approaching 40 and wanting to compete with younger players, I still felt like something was missing... Ah! I get it! It's not wide enough! And it's not bi-metal!

After JN2023, Ron and I quickly discussed various possibilities and ultimately finalized a few key design elements:

  1. The shape is similar to the Scintillator, and while it has the functionality required for finger spin, it does not impair competitive performance.

  2. The widest string spacing ever in the metal yo-yo category!

  3. Bi-metal? That's too easy. We challenged ourselves to design something that uses 3 materials, and they have to be 3 functional materials! 6061 + complex large diameter hollow stainless steel rim, and PC outer rim to protect hands and head and increase visibility on stage, plus an extra thumb grind area to create more technique and subtly enhance the feeling of floating.

  4. Ultra-wide yo-yos are usually considered to be heavy, so this model is lighter so that players won't get tired even when using it for long periods of time.

First prototype (purple): width 57mm x diameter 57.2mm, weight 65.63g Thoughts on the first day of testing: Tricks that usually feel very difficult now feel super easy. But after a while problems started appearing - not enough spin time, too heavy feeling, too slow movement, too floating for speed play. The problem was with the weight distribution of the metal rim, and the shape was too conservative, so I felt I could be more daring.

Second prototype (green): width 58.21 x diameter 58mm, weight 64.77g The H-shaped exterior design is more emphasized, and the purpose is to reduce the weight while transferring the weight to the stainless steel rim. We readjusted the weight distribution inside the hollow stainless steel rim, and modified the PC height and thumb grind area. The results are good, but could be even better. The weight is lighter and the movement speed is faster, but the spin time and power are much worse than the initial version. The change in the H-shape has improved the accuracy of the tricks and made the feel of the grind tricks smoother and more stable. For this reason, we used it as a reference to create the next sample.

3rd Prototype (Sakura): Width 58.2mm x Diameter 58mm, Weight 65.2g We kept the same size as the second version, with a hollow stainless steel rim absorbing the internal design from the first two versions to redistribute the weight. We modified the thumb grind area to improve the excessive floating feeling and enhance the performance of the thumb grind. We tested surface finishes and applied a polishing treatment to the finger spin area. This improved the central weight control feeling, but the finger spin performance was not ideal. This was due to the polishing treatment of the shiny hub, which caused the skin of the central finger to rub against the inner surface, reducing spin. However, with this version we finally got closer to the performance we were looking for! The final version is now almost 99% complete!

The final version differed slightly from the third prototype, with some tweaks and the entire 6061 aluminum section receiving a matte finish – very subtle but achieving the desired effect in tuning the weight and feel.

Each of the three materials has its own role to play: 6061 Body: The material properties give it a light and fast feeling. Despite being very thin, it has a certain thickness that prevents deformation on impact.

HOLLOW STAINLESS STEEL RIMS: We tuned the weight distribution within the invisible ring to find the optimum position to maintain the angle for horizontal tricks while maximizing explosive power.

PC Rim: As well as allowing for a thumb grind area, the special design helps maintain trajectory stability on the trick track, it also allows you to control it so that you don't lose speed during acceleration, and has a certain floatation that gives you better control for tricks that require airborne maneuvers.

The most important aspect of PC rims is to protect the player's body. Before the Super Scintillator, my glasses were already scratched a lot (haha). But with my new signature yo-yo, I can practice for longer periods of time with more peace of mind!

While I am not a top yo-yo player or trick creator, the development of the Super Scintillator took over a year of design and sample testing, and is based on my experience designing over 200 yo-yo products in 15 years at C3.

I've been playing yo-yo for 26 years and still want to compete with younger players. I wholeheartedly recommend my second signature yo-yo, the Super Scintillator!

Thank you for reading this super long introduction! Please keep sending us your feedback! We love you all!
