Although they mostly make off string yo-yos, Japan Technology has crafted a fantastic string trick model out of POM plastic, showcasing the beauty of this material.

Up until the late 2000's off string yo-yos almost all had rubber wings, but the script was flipped with the introduction of soft-yet-durable POM plastic. The flagship model of this new material revolution was the Kamui, from Japan Technology. Now, JT has taken all their intimate know-how from dealing with this material, and put together a solid string trick model, the Origin.

The ORIGIN is a string trick model made from POM plastic, a special material we machine right here in Japan.

Our concept was that "Yo-Yo's fun is derived from the materials it uses." We wanted to make a yo-yo that players couldn't resist reaching out and touching. The more fun it is to touch, the more fun it is to play!

In truth, we had a lot of difficulty making the ORIGIN, namely with the price! In order to satisfy our high standards for machining yo-yos, we machine them all here in Japan. At this level, the cost of producing the POM origin and an A300 high-end metal yo-yo, aside from the materials itself, was almost the same!

We couldn't release a plastic yo-yo with such a premium price, so we met with our machine shop partners and discussed how to make the ORIGIN an affordable machined yo-yo. Our goal was to find ways to reduce the cost of production without affecting the quality of the finished product. We finally decided to switch production methods to mass-production machining.

This decision carried a lot of risk for us! Because of the high volume of mass production orders, a lot of yo-yos would be produced before we could assemble and test them thoroughly. We would have to be very certain of our design before we pull the trigger. But thanks to our past experience with our amazing machinists and engineers, we had faith in their abilities.

And our gamble has paid off! The yo-yo resulting from our years of experience and diligent attention to detail, and our partnership with our production team has led to a plastic yo-yo like no other. Even within JT, we haven't made a plastic yo-yo so well-suited for competition play. The playfeel is addictive, it feels luxurious in the hand, and it's easy on the eyes. ORIGIN is a culmination of our skill in an affordable package. Don't miss out on this one!

*Some of our stock includes pre-production models. We have tested these against the production models and determined that there is no difference in handling and playfeel, so it is possible that you receive one of these yo-yos.
