UNPRLD - Novalis
A bimetal that harnesses weight to unlock new trick possibilities.
This is the signature model of Ryoya Ochiai, a member of UNPRLD's Japanese team and staff at Shibuya Yoyo Club.
This model is designed based on two of the company's yo-yos, the Cognition and Nostalgia, inheriting the feel of the yo-yos Ochiai has used in the past while achieving further evolution.
The most distinctive feature is its weight setting of approximately 67g+, which is on the heavier side for a bimetal. Generally, heavy yo-yos excel in stability and spin power but tend to sacrifice maneuverability. However, this model brilliantly solves this issue by adopting a midship weight rim. By placing the weight toward the center, the design eliminates the sluggishness associated with heavy designs, allowing you to purely enjoy the benefits of stability and spin power.
In terms of shape, it has an ample width while keeping the diameter slightly compact, providing nimble handling. This exquisite balance allows for solid control even in complex string tricks, as well as easy quick turns and direction changes. The feeling of mobility despite its weight sets it apart from conventional heavyweight bimetals.
The name derives from Latin words meaning "new pioneer" and "one who cultivates new land." The stability from the weight serves as a foundation for executing long combos and complex tricks, while the excellent maneuverability enhances the freedom to experiment with new ideas. For players seeking to create new tricks, the Novalis will prove to be an ideal partner.
