C3yoyodesign - Krown (Kaoru Nakamura)
The Krown is back on the throne! This updated version gives you a taste of high level power!
Based on the original Krown released in 2013, several tweaks and updates were made to the original design in order to draw out the best performance. Power, stability and control are the three points they focused on for the first release, and now those points have been honed to perfection.
Moreover, the new Krown has baked into it the expanded know-how that C3 refined over the years, through over 50 different yo-yo releases. The result is a complex mix of fine-tuned curves and sharp straight lines; each of those a deliberate decision made through intense trial and error. The side face balance has been inherited from the Agate, a collaboration model made in conjunction with the YJYOYO festival. What does that mean? A light playfeel without sacrificing any power. The new Krown feels like a real evolution.
Taste the power of full metal in your hand, the Krown is a high end throw that's easy enough for players to step up to their first bind, ensuring that you could get a lifetime of enjoyment out of it. For practice and casual play, all the way to the contest stage, the Krown is a perfect fit for any scene.
Comment from Shinya Kido
The new Krown may look similar to the original 2013 model, but it has been honed and polished to an even higher level of performance. We made big changes to the material design and weight balance; players familiar with the Krown will feel comfortable with the new version, but will be impressed by the improved power and stability.
It's a long story to how we got here...
At first, in 2013, with less than a month away from the Japan National contest, C3 managed to complete the design and get the first run out in time. Thanks to their great work, the Krown has become a top seller in their signature series and overall lineup, and has become a standard full metal throw in many collections.
In 2015, the bimetal Krown.st came on the scene, with a straight shape that I personally liked. That version kicked some serious butt, improving on the speed and stability of the original and giving players a sharper playfeel. I was satisfied with having made a fantastic all-around model, and a sharper version focused on competition play.
Then, at the 2017 World yo-Yo Contest, the revised Krown introduced a new trick into its arsenal with a side face designed for fingerspin horizontal play. Players looking for a step-up model with a wide array of tricks were rewarded for their patience, and the new Krown was something C3 and I could be proud of.
In 2018, the latest Krown for the contest stage--the Krown.st 7068--arrived on the scene. The rim had a more rounded edge than before, giving it a softer catch than its bimetal older brother. The first to use 7068 aluminum instead of 6061 or 7075, The feeling wasn't quite like any other Krown to date. Destined to up-end the contest scene, the 7068 Krown was a giant-slayer.
And now, in 2019, we have the fifth model of the beloved Krown series. In C3's tenth year of business, they've poured all their experience into this new Krown, and it shows!
Combining their all-around know-how and my specialty in the contest scene, and the knowledge C3 has gathered over their past 50+ releases since 2009, they've really outdone themselves. Aside from the flash of inspiration that sold as the "Agate" at the YJYOYO festival, the new Krown introduces an essence to the C3 lineup that was missing until now. Every aspect of the yo-yo has been improved to raise the level of your play to new heights.
From your first bind to your walk to the contest stage, C3 and the Krown series are here to give you the full power of a champion class throw. Whatever scene you're in, the Krown will fit. I'm very happy to bring it to you, I hope it sparks joy!
