All yo-yos have passed the manufacturer's quality inspection. Quality standards vary by manufacturer. Basically, products that can be used normally are within product specifications.
Examples of possible initial defects
if the following symptoms occur immediately after opening, they may be initial defects:
(Bind models only) The bearing barely rotates even when flicked with a finger.
Even after dampening vibrations with a finger during play, the yo-yo vibrates so much that its shape appears distorted.
Parts that should be installed (bearings, pads) are not installed.
Examples that do not constitute initial defects
Package damage
Color differences from expectations
Bearing noise or bind model return issues that occur after even a few plays
Yo-yos that arrived properly assembled but cannot be reassembled after disassembly
Scratches on the inside of the bearing area, paint chips
Color variations on the yo-yo that are not noticeable from a distance
Paint chips that are not noticeable from a distance
Scratches on the yo-yo that are not noticeable from a distance and barely detectable by touch
Minor rust on bearing surfaces of models that come pre-strung in the package (minor external rust has almost no impact on performance)
Taking Innovation to the eXtreme! IX is a versatile yo-yo designed for 4A and 5A play.
The IX is the new signature model of 2018 5A World Champion and 2021 5A Japana Champion, Sora Ishikawa. He's been awarded several "Extreme Trick" prizes for developing and performing some pretty mind-bending tricks that often hop the fence between play styles. Overseeing the development of the IX, Sora's concept was to make a yo-yo that isn't just excellent for plain string trick play, but can even be used for off string practice! Thus the name "Innovation eXtreme," or IX was given to his new signature throw.
Since Sora's excellent counterweight playstyle consists mostly of bold moves, and doesn't require a thin body for delicate mounts, it made sense to give the IX a very wide body, to catch even the most audacious tricks. This made it easier to land all kinds of string tricks, and even off string tricks. The midship counterweight gives plenty of spin without impeding your recoveries from dropped counterweight moves and off string misses. Especially for 5A play, this approach has resulted in a great tool to help bring your freestyle to a whole new level!
The IX comes with three different spacers designed specifically for either 1A, 5A, or 4A style tricks. Just by switching out the spacer, you can adjust the gap to maximize the style of play you prefer. Although 1A and 5A are both string trick styles, the 5A spacer leaves the gap slightly narrower than 1A, giving you tighter binds that is demanded by counterweight play. If you want a looser feel, you can still use the 1A spacers for 5A play. Or you can blaze your own path and find a setting that works best for your personal style.
