Hyper Yo-Yo - Hyper Viper
The original Hyper Yo-Yo off string model, the Viper.
During the original Hyper Yo-Yo Boom of 1997, this was the only off string model in the entire lineup. Rebranded from an OEM Henry's Viper, the only differences are the rubber body design and the print on the side of the hubs. Thanks to the rubber body--easily the yo-yo's most distinguishing feature--the durable yo-yo could handle a complete miss and bounce off the ground with no damage to itself or anything else. The other standout feature lay in the hub, which you could easily tighten or loosen to adjust the gap width, giving you more control over how responsive the yo-yo was. These two points made the Viper a revolutionary step in yo-yo design. Even though at release the MSRP was about $75 (in 1998 dollars!!), the Viper was still a widely popular model.
15 years later, the Viper looks awfully small and narrow next to modern off string models, but back in the day this yo-yo was big and wide, designed to make off string play easier. You can see that the Viper set the trends that have continued to inform off string design for decades.
The Hyper Viper is compatible with Henry's parts, such as the
Viper Shell and
Cobra Shell.
*As a dead-stock product, some weathering or damage to packaging over time has occurred. For this product in particular, time has faded the color on the rubber body. Please bear this in mind when purchasing.
