YoYoFactory x SUS YOYO MECHANICS - Deft
A full stainless steel model based on the Abyss.
Part of the JDS series designed by SUS YOYO MECHANICS.
This is the signature stainless steel model of YoYoFactory team member Kento Noda.
Based on Noda's signature monometal model, Abyss, refined to match the new material's characteristics. It achieves the performance demanded of the Abyss, but with a different approach due to the completely different material properties.
While maintaining power, it eliminates resistance during direction changes and achieves a light, comfortable playfeel by utilizing the hardness of stainless steel. The yo-yo's excellent response to commands is apparent at first throw. Despite having a slender body with an overall thin construction, you can feel a focused, unwavering spin thanks to the denseness of stainless steel.
Although smaller compared to the Abyss, it maintains sufficient width and leaves nothing to be desired. This is an exceptional throw that fully brings out the appeal of a stainless steel model, enjoyable not only for competition but also for casual play.
Manufacturer's Comments
"How to make a heavyweight material light"
Based on the popular Abyss, we received a request to "try making an Abyss in stainless steel." When we explained that the original Abyss size wouldn't work with a usable weight, they requested to "try a downsized version," so we began development to see what we could achieve.
Due to the material's characteristics, balancing lightness was challenging. Increasing power made it too heavy, reducing weight led to insufficient power, and we searched for a sweet spot that would reduce resistance while meeting Noda's requirements.
The final result is an overall compact mid-size with a proper presence different from lightness and nimble operability. It features rigidity without flex that doesn't rely solely on power, and extended sleep time inherited from the Abyss's smooth characteristics.
While based on the Abyss, it offers a different feeling. Experience unique movements only possible through lightweight, high-rigidity construction.
