Big and soft, the Pro Bubble is the latest resin counterweight made for 2020 Japan National finalist, Ryuto Nishikawa!
Compared to the previous 3D-printed materials used for candy dice, resin-printed device are more durable but also have a higher resolution and "softer" feel to them. This one was made for Ryuto Nishikawa, who made it to the highly competitive Japan National Finals in 2020.
Its diameter is about 26mm. It's Candy Dice's first large resin counterweight. Though you might have a fear that "large" means sluggish and hard to handle, but the weight is well managed by making the interior of the dice hollow. Though this means the walls are thinner, the new resin material means they're still as durable as a solid traditional Candy Dice. This dice should still stand up to your fierce freestyle practice!
Since the hollow center is visible when when light shines through the dice, it was given the name "Bubble." Compared to other Candy Dice, it does move a little slower through the air, so it pairs nicely with larger yo-yos or bimetal models with loads of power.
*Out of the box it has roughly the same soft texture as a plastic eraser, but with exposure to light it may stiffen up a little over time.
*There is a hole in the body, but it is a necessary design component for draining resin after printing, and is NOT for the yo-yo string. Please use the groove around the outer body like a normal Candy Dice.
About Candy Dice:
2001 X Division world champion and REWIND Shibuya store manager, Shingo "Terry" Terada joined forces with 3D printing mastermind Hideki Toho (AKA YOYOMAKER) to focus solely on the other side of the 5A string, focusing exclusively on counterweights.
"We want to foster a style of 5A play that makes it easy for anyone to pick up and try" was the concept at its heard, and so they innovated new ways to easily add a counterweight to a 1A yo-yo. This ease of use set them apart from other options, and they've never stopped innovating, with many collaborations with other makers, including the original Duncan. They keep things fresh with cool new colors in limited runs, making them great collectables.
Warnings:
Small layers in the dice face are part of the design thanks to the manufacturing process.
Candy Dice are 3D printed, and may have small variations from one to the next
Candy Dice are made of plastic. They are not actually candy, please don't put them in your mouth!
These dice are not indestructible, hard play and impacts against hardened surfaces such as concrete may damage the dice. Please play responsibly.
