All yo-yos have passed the manufacturer's quality inspection. Quality standards vary by manufacturer. Basically, products that can be used normally are within product specifications.
Examples of possible initial defects
if the following symptoms occur immediately after opening, they may be initial defects:
(Bind models only) The bearing barely rotates even when flicked with a finger.
Even after dampening vibrations with a finger during play, the yo-yo vibrates so much that its shape appears distorted.
Parts that should be installed (bearings, pads) are not installed.
Examples that do not constitute initial defects
Package damage
Color differences from expectations
Bearing noise or bind model return issues that occur after even a few plays
Yo-yos that arrived properly assembled but cannot be reassembled after disassembly
Scratches on the inside of the bearing area, paint chips
Color variations on the yo-yo that are not noticeable from a distance
Paint chips that are not noticeable from a distance
Scratches on the yo-yo that are not noticeable from a distance and barely detectable by touch
Minor rust on bearing surfaces of models that come pre-strung in the package (minor external rust has almost no impact on performance)
The Rextreme, an off string yo-yo released in 2011 by YoYoJam (a yo-yo manufacturer currently on hiatus). With its exceptionally large body for its time and improved spin power through mid-ship weight placement, along with being the signature yo-yo used by Rei Iwakura during his World Championship victories in 2012 and 2014, it quickly spread as the cutting-edge off string model of its time.
In 2024, with YoYoJam's official approval, the Rextreme has been reborn and evolved as Rei Iwakura's signature model by, C3yoyodesign.
The body has been upgraded by using precision machining, while maintaining the same polycarbonate body material as the old version, improving both precision and rigidity. The diameter has been reduced to enhance maneuverability while adjusting the weight balance. Combined with the wide mid-ship weight that defined the Rextreme, it has been finished as a substantial offstring yo-yo weighing approximately 89g. This weight is almost identical to the "Rextreme 2.0," the second generation of the Rextreme, and compared to the original, it offers significantly longer sleep times, improved stability, and substantially increased durability.
The Rextreme was known as an overwhelmingly wide model among off string yo-yos of its time. To express that same surprising element, it features an ultra-wide body of 74mm, the widest among C3yoyodesign models (so far). This overwhelming width provides exceptional stability for off string play, where the yo-yo leaves the string.
Additionally, weight adjustment is possible by attaching and removing the caps, and when the caps are removed, a finger spin spot becomes available. This design pays homage to YoYoJam's golden era when cap mounting was standard, and also respects the fact that the original could be equipped with the "Lateral Caps" for finger spins.
Once again presenting this legendary model that had a profound impact on both the history of off string yo-yo and Rei Iwakura himself.
